OP/EN 3 - 'the god... who was'

This is the first of three OP/ENs looking forward to Christmas on the theme of WHO WAS… / AND IS… / AND IS TO COME…

Tonight we are using the Creation story from Genesis 1 to explore the God WHO WAS.  As well as stations for Confession, Intercession and Sending Out – and of course the coffee and newspapers of Welcome - there are stations for each day of Creation.  Please visit and explore them all, and when you reach the Seventh Day, in the Chapel, take time to reflect on Jesus Christ, in whom all creation holds together.

Confession

Even before people had been able to know Jesus or hear his message, they asked forgiveness from God.  The psalms are full of examples of people wanting to right their relationship with God, by confessing their sins and asking for His forgiveness.

Why not read Psalm 51 and reflect on David's words?

The Creation

Day One
"Let there be light" - God called light "day", and the darkeness he called "night". The first day.

Time Had Begun.
What Do We Do With Time?
What Does God Do With Time?
USE THE CALENDARS TO SEE HOW YOU USE TIME...

Day Two
"Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water".

So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. God called the expanse "sky." ...

Day Three
"Let the land produce vegitation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land tha bear fruit with seeds in it, according to their various kinds".

CAN YOU SEPARATE THE WATER WITH THE EARTH?

Day Four
"Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark the seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth".

Day Five
"Let the water teem with living creatures - let the birds fly above the earth - let the land produce living creatures that move along the ground."

CAN YOU CREATE THE FISH, BIRDS AND ANIMALS - OR IMAGINE NEW ONES - OUT OF PLAY DOUGH?

Day Six
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created...
